Recitals

Recitals

Students are prepared to participate in bi-annual recitals held January and June. While participation in recitals is not mandatory, it is highly encouraged.

Recitals are wonderful opportunity for the students to share with others (in a friendly atmosphere) what they haveIMG_8198 learned, and for the parents to witness the progress of their children. Recital pieces are prepared well in advance so that students learn how to communicate, to tell the story, through their pieces. This approach also teaches students to appreciate the work entailed in playing music well. In addition, participating in recitals gives students goals to prepare for and goals that motivate their practicing.

Recitals are not competitions. Students may play one or several pieces, from memory or from music, depending on their level of playing. Recitals also expand students’ familiarity with the music repertoire and inspire their future performances.

Recitals are held on Saturday afternoon at the same location as the lessons.
